Commander Tomalak; Officer of the Romulan guard. Commander of the Romulan warbird that entered Federation space to retrieve the crew of the downed Romulan scoutship Pi in 2366. Tomalak denied that the scoutship was doing anything improper in Federation space, claiming that the Pi had suffered a navigational failure. "The Enemy".

Tomalak next encountered the Enterprise-D when the Federation ship illegally entered the Neutral Zone to investigate reports of a secret Romulan base at Nelvana III. The reports were a trick, and Tomalak had prepared a welcoming committee of two warbirds to attempt to capture the Enterprise-D. "The Defector".

(A fantasy version of Tomalak was encountered by Riker in 2367 during a virtual reality engineered by Barash on Alpha Onias III. In this fantasy, Tomalak was a Romulan ambassador on a peace mission to the Federation. "Future Imperfect"

(In the anti-time reality created by the Q Continuum, Tomalak took command of the Romulan Warbird Terix, which was one of more than 30 Romulan vessels amassed at the Romulan Neutral Zone on Stardate 47988. The fleet was deployed in response to the temporal anomaly which formed in the Devron system.) "All Good Things..., Parts I and II".
