in 1979, Paramount announced that Star
Trek: The Motion Picture
was going to be released in December. Great! This was what all we
fans were waiting for.
What a
disappointment that was. But nobody said a word. We had Star Trek
back again and since the first movie made piles of money, maybe they
would make another. And they did. The
Wrath of Khan
was fantastic. We didn't believe that they would dare to kill Spock;
but it happened. Trekkies, as we were known back then, were
devastated. How could they ever make another movie without Spock? But
then came The
Search for Spock.
They did it; and to all our surprise, Spock was reborn. Only in
America! Then came The
Voyage Home, and
it was even better. Now we were well on the way to saving a legend.
