The Mirror Universe
Continuum
parallel to and co-existing with our own, but on another dimensional
plane. Virtually everything in the mirror universe is duplicated, but
in many cases is opposite in nature to its counterpart in our own
universe. Captain Kirk and a few members from the Enterprise were
thrust into this parallel existence after beaming during an ion
storm, finding the mirror universe to be a brutally savage place.
Spock's counterpart in the mirror universe believed his brutally
oppressive government would inevitably spur a revolt, resulting in a
terrible dark age. The mirror Spock indicated a willingness to help
reform his government
to possibly avert this sequence of events. "Mirror,
Mirror" (TOS). Led by Spock (mirror), the Terran
Empire embraced disarmament and peace, but this was, unfortunately,
ill-timed and left the empire open to be conquered by the Alliance of
Klingon and Cardassian forces. Terrans were reduced to slave status.
A second contact with our universe occurred in 2370, when a
runabout's warp-drive malfunction sent Deep Space 9 officers Kira and
Bashir into the mirror universe by way of the Bajoran wormhole.
Although Kira and Bashir soon returned home, they planted
the
seeds of human rebellion with potential freedom fighters on station
Terok Nor (mirror). "Crossover".
Benjamin Sisko (mirror) led the Terran resistance from a secret base
in the Badlands. The mirror Sisko was killed in 2371 when his ship
was destroyed by Cardassian forces. Terran forces quickly regrouped,
however, under the leadership of Sisko's counterpart from our
universe. This Benjamin Sisko visited the mirror universe long enough
to convince Jennifer Sisko (mirror) to abandon work on a transpectral
sensor array that would have made it impossible for Terran operatives
to hide in the Badlands. "Through
the Looking Glass". By 2372, the resistance had driven the
Alliance from Terok Nor. Terrans at the station built a powerful new
ship, the Defiant (mirror) that they used in their fight. "Shattered
Mirror", "Resurrection".
Odo (mirror); In the mirror universe, supervisor of the ore-processing center on Terok Nor (mirror). This Odo was killed by Dr. Julian Bashir in 2370, when Bashir escaped back to his own universe. "Crossover".
Quark
(mirror); In the mirror universe, proprietor of the bar at Terok Nor
(mirror). Quark illegally helped Terran slaves find passage off the
station. Unfortunately, his activities were discovered, and he was
executed in 2370. "Crossover".
After this Quark was killed, the mirror Rom inherited the bar at
Terok Nor. When Rom was killed a year later, Nog became the owner.
"Shattered Mirror".
Nog (mirror); After Quark (mirror) and Rom (mirror) were killed by the Alliance, Nog (mirror) became the owner of the bar on Terok Nor (mirror). Nog (mirror) helped Kira Nerys (mirror) escape from Terran resistance captivity in 2372, but she killed him when she realized that he knew her intended escape destination. "Shattered Mirror".
Rom
(mirror); Hardened, heavily armed professional soldier and member of
the Terran rebellion in the mirror universe. In this reality, Garak
(mirror) tortured Rom until he revealed Benjamin Sisko's plan to get
Jennifer Sisko (mirror) away from Terok Nor (mirror). Garak (mirror)
then killed the mirror Rom. "Through
the Looking Glass".
Bareil
Antos (mirror); Petty thief and con man in
the mirror universe. He was very different from his counterpart in
our universe, the noted Bajoran cleric. The mirror Bareil was once
involved with a woman named Lisea (mirror), whom he met at an Ilvian
pleasure center. The two were together for five years until a drunken
Cardassian soldier killed her. In 2374, as part of a plan with Kira
Nerys (mirror), he entered our universe to steal a Bajoran Orb. He
fell for Kira Nerys of our universe, who persuaded him to abandon his
plan and return to his universe without the Orb. "Resurrection".
Kira
Nerys (mirror); In the mirror universe,
the Intendant of station Terok Nor (mirror) and the Bajor Sector.
This position gave her a great deal of power, which she used to
satisfy her considerable appetites. In 2370, Kira was confronted with
a visit from her counterpart from our universe. She attempted to use
Kira Nerys's presence to her advantage, and was surprised when her
double refused to cooperate. She regretted the escape of several
Terrans, including Benjamin Sisko (mirror) and Miles O'Brien (mirror)
from Terok Nor in the incident. "Crossover".
The mirror Kira faced the mirror O'Brien and other members of the
Terran resistance again the following year when Jennifer Sisko
(mirror) was on the verge of finishing a transpectral sensor array. "Through
the Looking Glass". After the Terran resistance captured
Terok Nor (mirror), Kira (mirror) was held prisoner on the station.
Julian Bashir (mirror) tortured her with an agonizer. She escaped
captivity with the help of Nog (mirror). Before escaping to Bajor,
she killed Nog (mirror) and Jennifer Sisko (mirror). "Shattered
Mirror". In 2374, the mirror Kira devised a plan with the
mirror version of Bareil Antos to steal one of the Bajoran Orbs from
our universe. The mirror Kira became jealous when the mirror Bareil
became attracted to her counterpart in our universe, and was further
angered when the mirror Bareil abandoned their plan. Both individuals
subsequently returned to the mirror universe. "Resurrection".
Jadzia Dax (mirror); Mirror universe counterpart to Jadzia Dax. This Dax was an aggressive leader of the Terran rebellion. She was also the lover of Benjamin Sisko (mirror). "Through the Looking Glass".
Jennifer
Sisko (mirror); Mirror universe
counterpart to Jennifer Sisko. This Jennifer did not die in the
battle of Wolf 359, but instead continued her work as a scientist.
She worked for the Alliance of the Cardassians and Klingons, trying
to develop a transpectral sensor array that would enable the Alliance
to find the Terran resistance in the Badlands. Professor Jennifer
Sisko (mirror), who came from a privileged Terran family, believed
her work for the Alliance would help prevent further loss of human
life by ending the rebellion, which she believed to be futile. She
and her husband, Benjamin Sisko (mirror), separated in 2366. In 2371,
Benjamin Sisko from our universe persuaded the mirror Jennifer Sisko
to join the rebellion and abandon development of the sensor array. "Through
the Looking Glass". In 2372, Jennifer Sisko (mirror)
abducted Jake Sisko, a ploy to persuade this universe's Benjamin
Sisko to return to the mirror universe to help the Terran resistance
complete the Starship Defiant (mirror) in time to fend off an
impending attack by Alliance forces. While she was trying to get Jake
safely back to his own universe, the mirror Jennifer Sisko was shot
and mortally wounded by Kira Nerys (mirror). At her deathbed,
Benjamin and Jake Sisko again wept for a woman named Jennifer. "Shattered
Mirror".
Benjamin
Sisko (mirror); (Avery Brooks). In the
mirror universe, a Terran who served under the direct command of the
Intendant of Terok Nor (mirror). Sisko commanded an Alliance ship,
exacting duties from ships that traversed the Bajoran (mirror)
sector, and returning those tributes to the Intendant. Sisko
attributed his privileged Terran status to the fact that he
"amused" the Intendant, but he knew he was still a slave.
In 2370, he was persuaded by the presence of Kira Nerys and Julian
Bashir to abandon his favored post and flee Alliance control to fight
for human freedom. "Crossover".
The mirror Sisko became a leader of the Terran resistance against
the Alliance. His abrasive personality offended many of his fellow
rebels, as it had, in 2366, alienated his wife, Jennifer Sisko
(mirror). Benjamin Sisko (mirror) was killed in 2371 when his ship
was attacked by Cardassian forces while Sisko was on a mission to
persuade his ex-wife to abandon scientific work that she was doing
for the Alliance. "Through the Looking Glass".
Julian
Bashir (mirror); In the mirror universe,
Julian Bashir resided on station Terok Nor (mirror), and was an
argumentative member of the Terran resistance. "Crossover",
"Through the Looking Glass".
By 2372, Bashir (mirror) had become a captain in the resistance, and
as pilot of a Rebel raider ship, he helped fend off an Alliance fleet
that threatened the rebel-held Terok Nor (mirror). "Shattered
Mirror".
Garak (mirror); In the mirror universe, first officer of station Terok Nor in 2370. "Crossover". In 2371, this Garak tortured and killed Rom (mirror) after Rom revealed a Terran rebellion plan to get Jennifer Sisko (mirror) away from Terok Nor (mirror). "Through the Looking Glass".
Worf
(mirror); The mirror universe Worf was Regent and leader of the
Alliance of Cardassian and Klingon military forces. In 2372, he
commanded an Alliance battle fleet on a mission to retake station
Terok Nor (mirror) from the Terran resistance. The Defiant (mirror),
commanded by this universe's Captain Benjamin Sisko, successfully
engaged the Alliance fleet with the help of a Rebel raider ship
commanded by Julian Bashir (mirror). Rather than risk destruction, Worf
(mirror) ordered the Alliance fleet home. "Shattered
Mirror".
Miles
O'Brien (mirror); In the mirror universe,
a Terran conscript who served on station Terok Nor. O'Brien held a
theta designation, and in that capacity served as a repair technician
for the mining equipment on the station. This O'Brien helped engineer
the escape of Major Kira Nerys and Dr. Julian Bashir from the station
in 2370. O'Brien escaped in the company of Benjamin Sisko (mirror),
and the two began the difficult fight to regain human freedom in the
mirror universe. Sisko insisted on calling him 'Smiley.' "Crossover".
After Benjamin Sisko (mirror) was killed in 2371, the mirror O'Brien
used a reconfigured transporter to abduct Commander Benjamin Sisko
from the alternate (our) universe to complete the mirror Sisko's last
mission. "Through the
Looking Glass". While in our universe this O'Brien also
downloaded technical information from the computer at Deep Space 9.
These data permitted Terrans at Terok Nor to construct a copy of the
Starship Defiant The new Defiant (mirror) proved to be a powerful
weapon for the Terran resistance. "Shattered
Mirror".
Tuvok
(mirror); Mirror universe counterpart to Tuvok. The mirror Tuvok was
not lost aboard the Starship Voyager. Instead, he became a member of
the Terran resistance, fighting against the oppressive Alliance of
the Klingon Empire and the Cardassian Union. "Through
the Looking Glass".
