Kasidy Yates Sisko; Civilian freighter captain who operated in the Bajor sector. Yates met Benjamin Sisko through his son, Jake, in 2371. "Family Business".

By early 2372, Kasidy Yates and Benjamin Sisko grew increasingly fond of each other, but often had difficulty finding time together owing to their busy schedules. The Klingon bird-of-prey M'Char intercepted Yates' freighter, the Xhosa, in 2372 during the Klingon offensive on Cardassia. The Xhosa was freed thanks to intervention by Sisko in command of the Defiant. "The Way of the Warrior, Parts I and II".

Shortly thereafter, Yates accepted a position as a freighter captain with the Bajoran Ministry of Commerce. She was allowed to use her own ship, pick her own crew, and operate wholly within the Bajoran sector. In accepting the job, she intended to take up residence on station Deep Space 9. "Indiscretion".

Kasidy and Ben shared a love of baseball and enjoyed each other's company. Kasidy Yates's youngest brother was a colonist on Cestus III, and played for the Pike City Pioneers. "Family Business".

Starfleet arrested Yates in 2372 for smuggling weapons to the Maquis. "For the Cause". Yates was convicted and sentenced to six months in a Federation prison.

After serving her sentence, she returned to Deep Space 9 and took up residence there. "Rapture".

Yates normally operated as an independent contractor, but once acted as convoy liaison officer for Starfleet aboard the Defiant during the Dominion war in late 2374. "The Sound of Her Voice".

In early 2375, Yates took advantage of a lull in her shipping schedule to spend a couple of weeks with Sisko at Deep Space 9, where she joined the Deep Space Niners, an informal baseball team, playing third base. "Take Me Out to the Holosuite".

Kasidy Shameeka Yates married Benjamin Lafayette Sisko in a quiet ceremony aboard station Deep Space 9 in late 2375. "'Til Death Do Us Part".

Kasidy became pregnant with Benjamin's child "Dogs of War", but sadly, Benjamin departed the linear realm before he could see the child born. "What You Leave Behind, Parts I and II".
